In my life, I have been on plenty of stressful vacations, especially when traveling with family. I'm more of a chill traveler, so I thought I would tell you how I have a stress-free vacation.
Pick the tourist spots
Even before you travel decide on the top three places you want to see and only visit those places. That way you have a plan, and you don't get overwhelmed by all the tourist brochures and all the places you could go. Of course, you can always change the places you want to see when you get there, but try to stick to a handful of places, not more.
Make plenty of stops
Don't rush through the City/Country you're visiting.
Take your time. Walk the streets. Take a break at the small cafes and restaurant you find along the way. Pop into the cute vintage shop you discover. Have a slice of pizza by the marina.
This is a vacation, not a stresscation !
Walk and take public transit
Some of my best memories are walking around the streets in the city I'm visiting. You might discover a hidden Beach or the best Ice cream you have ever taste, like I did when walking in Alanya, Turkey.
But of course, make sure you're walking in safe areas.
I'm also a fan of taking the train and getting off at a random stop.
If you're staying at a hotel, don't set your alarm every morning.
Some days it's nice to sleep in, get room service and to take advantage of the hotel facilities.
Do they have a pool? Have a spa day, read a book by the pool.
Just enjoy being in a new city and on vacation!
Where do the locals go?
Sometimes it can be nice to chat up some locals, to see what restaurants and places they recommend.
Like I did in Egypt when I ended up at a restaurant where a guy was dancing around in a dress balancing plates on his head.
But again, alway double check about the places they recommend online. Safety comes first.
Stay hydrated on your vacation, and also include plenty of food stops. Nothing is worse than being grumpy on vacation.
You will end up ruining the day not only for yourself but also for your friends/family.
If you are traveling to a warm climate, make sure to stay extra hydrated. The sun will tire you out faster than you think.
Sunglasses and hats also protect you against dehydration.
Sun factor is also a most!
I hoped you enjoy this blog post. I wish you a safe and stress-free vacation.
